Ministry of Transport of Republic of Slovenia has on 17th of December 2010 hosted a workshop entitled "Research in Transport Today and in the Future". The workshop brought together different Slovenian representatives from R&D organizations, Ministries, State authorities and Business organisations in order to start dialogue on implementation and funding of R&D projects in the field of transport in Slovenia.

Dr. Patrick Vlačič, Minister of Transport, has in his opening speech stressed great importance of such activities and expressed his satisfaction over the work of TransSLO-PLUS project. He was followed by the TransSLO-PLUS project’s manager dr. Stane Božičnik who presented results and future activities of the project. Special attention was given to the project "Traffic Flow and Mobility Management Model development” presented by dr. Marjan Lep and his colleagues.

Brief presentations of 13 national and EU R&D projects in the field of transport followed in next section of the workshop. The last part was dedicated for representatives of Ministries and other founding bodies that introduced several funding opportunities for transport research. The workshop was successfully concluded with the discussion on future of transport research moderated by dr. Fedor Černe from the Ministry of Transport.
